First Down – Down Payment Assistance

Semper Home Loans is happy to partner with Rhode Island Housing to offer the First Down program. This program eases down payment burdens for Rhode Islanders by providing up to $7,500 in down payment assistance. If you read our article on the challenges facing first time home buyers, you know that for many first time home buyers – who are likely still building their nest eggs – down payments can be a tough hurdle to overcome. Luckily, with the First Down program, many people are finding it easier to get into their first home faster, easier, and smarter. Over 280 Rhode Islanders have already taken advantage of the First Down program, and RI Housing expects 800 more families to follow suit. Relaunched in November after stunning success, the First Down program is designed to help strengthen housing demand and increase home ownership opportunities for first time home buyers. The program focuses its efforts in the communities of Cranston, East Providence, Pawtucket, Providence, Warwick, and Woonsocket Rhode Island. And as if it couldn’t get any better, the First Down program may be forgivable for certain eligible borrowers.
